FAQ

Questions You May Have Before Getting Started

Starting therapy often comes with practical questions. Here are answers to some of the things people commonly want to know before reaching out.

How do I know if therapy is right for me?

You do not need to be in crisis or know exactly what you want to work on before starting therapy.

You may be dealing with something specific, noticing a pattern you want to change, going through a difficult period, or simply realizing that something has not felt right for a while.

A no-cost consultation can be a good place to start if you are unsure.

What can I come to therapy for?

You do not need to fit neatly into one category.

People may come to therapy for anxiety, stress, burnout, relationship difficulties, boundaries, life transitions, grief, difficult decisions, or other concerns affecting everyday life.

You can begin with whatever feels most important to you right now.

What if I am not sure what I need help with?

That is okay.

You do not need to choose the right category or have a clear explanation before reaching out. Therapy can begin with talking about what has been happening and identifying what feels most important to address.

Do you work with teenagers?

Yes. Therapy is available for teenagers age 13 and older, as well as adults.

Sometimes a teenager is clearly having a hard time. Other times, the changes are quieter. You may notice more worry, irritability, pulling away, school stress, changes in confidence, or difficulty with friendships, family relationships, or adjusting to something new.

Do you offer online therapy?

Yes. Becoming Our Best Self provides online therapy to clients located in Texas, Louisiana, Florida, and Alabama.

You will need to be physically located in a state where your therapist is licensed at the time of your appointment.

What do I need for an online therapy session?

Plan to join from a private location where you can speak openly without being overheard or interrupted.

You will also need a reliable internet connection and a device with working audio and video.

At the beginning of the session, you may be asked to confirm your physical location.

How long are therapy sessions?

Sessions are typically 45–55 minutes.

The length may vary depending on your needs, treatment goals, scheduling considerations, and the type of session.

How often will I attend therapy?

Session frequency is based on your needs, goals, availability, and what is clinically appropriate.

This may change over time as your needs and circumstances change.

What happens during the no-cost consultation?

The consultation is a brief opportunity to share what you are looking for, ask questions, and learn more about the practice.

It also gives you a chance to decide whether moving forward with therapy feels like the right next step.

How much does therapy cost?

Private-pay sessions start at $180 per session, with rates varying depending on the service and session type.

See Fees & Insurance for additional information.

Do you accept insurance?

Yes. Insurance may be accepted depending on your plan and location.

Because coverage varies, benefits and eligibility should be confirmed before beginning services.

See Fees & Insurance for additional information.
