Clear About Cost From the Beginning
Understanding what therapy may cost is an important part of deciding whether to get started.
Becoming Our Best Self offers both private-pay and insurance options. If you are using insurance, your cost will depend on the details of your individual plan.

Why Some Clients Choose Private Pay
Private pay can offer greater flexibility and discretion for clients who prefer to keep more decisions about therapy between themselves and their therapist.
More Discretion and Control
For clients who value privacy, private pay can offer an added layer of discretion. Without insurance claims, treatment information is not routinely shared with an insurance company for reimbursement, allowing you to keep more of your care outside of third-party review.
Fewer Insurance Requirements
Insurance companies often require specific documentation and a covered diagnosis before they will pay for treatment. With private pay, treatment decisions are not driven by an insurer’s coverage rules.
Care Shaped Around Your Needs
You and your therapist can make decisions about the focus, frequency, and length of therapy based on your goals, clinical needs, and circumstances rather than an insurance company’s visit limits or authorization requirements.
Using Insurance
Becoming Our Best Self participates with a range of insurance plans and employee assistance programs.
If you are using insurance, your cost may include a deductible, copay, coinsurance, or another amount determined by your health plan. Coverage can vary by plan, location, and service.
Verification of insurance benefits does not guarantee that a particular service will be covered or paid by your plan.

Before Your First Session
If you plan to use insurance, call the member-services number on the back of your insurance card before your first appointment and ask:
- Are outpatient mental health services covered?
- Do I have a deductible for mental health services?
- How much of my deductible has been met?
- What is my copay or coinsurance for outpatient therapy?
- Do therapy sessions count toward my deductible?
- Do I need prior authorization or a referral?
If your plan requires you to meet a deductible before your benefits begin paying, you may be responsible for the plan’s allowed amount until that deductible is met.
Your exact cost depends on your individual insurance plan, so confirming your benefits in advance can help you understand what to expect before your first session.
